Aspalathox™
Recent research on the characteristics and bioactivity of the complex mix of compounds in Rooibos confirmed its anti-inflammatory properties and specifically its role in cardiovascular health as well as cancer-fighting properties. The unique chemical structure of Rooibos flavanoids ensures stability during low pH and high temperature conditions, therefore ensuring bioavailable during ingestion. Aspalathox™ contains a composition of the essential flavanoids of Aspalathus linearis, commonly known as Rooibos (Red Bush) and is produced using a patented process. The process was developed to ensure optimal concentrations of natural occurring flavanoid compounds typical of Rooibos e.g. aspalathin, orientin and chrysoeriol.
Rooibos Tea
Rooibos tea is renowned for its high levels of polyphenol anti-oxidants, low tannin levels and no caffeine. Aspalathin, a prominent anti-oxidant, makes the Rooibos extract highly suitable for a range of neutraceutical and cosmetic products, Afriplex developed a Green Rooibos extract, an unfermented version of Rooibos, containing higher levels of Aspalathin and other anti-oxidants.
Buchu
Afriplex’s powder extract of Buchu is a water soluble extract manufactured from the leaves of Agathosma betulina. The plant is one of South Africa's best known medicinal plants and has been used by the indigenous peoples of the Western and Northern Cape for centuries to treat a wide range of ailments. Early Dutch settlers used buchu to make a brandy tincture and Boegoebrandewyn (buchu brandy) is still used today to treat many disorders. It was also popular in the 1800's as a hangover cure and in patent medicines for treating coughs and colds.
Hoodia
The well-known appetite suppressant Hoodia plant (Hoodia gordonii) is now also available in a powder extract format. The plant has a rich history in usage by the Khoi-San tribes of the Kalahari and Namibia for endurance and appetite suppressing qualities during extended hunting trips
Rosehips
Afriplex’s Rosehips extract was specifically developed with the beverage industry in mind. While the extract is stable and exhibits a reddish but clear visual when diluted in water, the processing was conducted with preservation of all Rose hips (Rosa canina) natural constituents like vitamin C and diglycerol glycoside.
Aloe Vera
A 200:1 powder extract is manufactured from this succulent. It contains aloe polysaccharides, organic acid and many other active components and is well known for its uses as a functional ingredient in cosmetics, hair care, pharmaceutical and food & beverage articles. The product is amongst other things known to boost human immunity, relieve constipation, reduce blood fat and sugar levels and regulate blood pressure. Aloe Ferox
The 200:1 powder extract is manufactured from this succulent, better known in Africa as African Aloe or Tree Aloe. A range of Polysaccharides known as aloe polymannans are present in this extract.The product is well established as an intracellular antioxidant and free radical scavenger and exhibits an immune modulating effect, making it ideal for applications in sports drinks. In addition the product provides 20 of 22 required amino acids and 7 out of 8 essential amino acids (e.g. glutamic, glycine, histidine, tyrosine.)
Grape Seed
Grape seed extract with a 95% OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidines) content is produced from the seeds of Vitis vinifera. The extract is well established as a very potent, but safe and natural anti-oxidant.
Olive leaf
The powder extract of olive leaf (Olea europaea) is manufactured with standardised oleoropein content. This component is well known for its antioxidant as well as anti-bacterial activity.
Coleonema
The powder extract of Coleonema alba was developed with its unique anti-viral qualities in mind. The extract was developed for pharmaceutical applications and specifically the treatment and prevention of influenza. The extract is currently undergoing clinical trials
Sutherlandia
The Sutherlandia frutescence plant was originally brewed and used by the indigenous people of South Africa to treat cancer patients. The Sutherlandia extract was developed specifically for its natural adaptogenic effect. Currently research is being conducted to evaluate the effect of Sutherlandia extract on type-2 diabetes. Preliminary results have shown the blood sugar levels of mammals to drop significantly after administering of the extract

Pelargonium
