AFRIPLEX EXPANDS EMULSIONS CAPACITY

South African plant extract company Afriplex has expanded its existing emulsion facility in response to increasing demand for beverage emulsions.The company said that the expansion was completed in the first quarter of 2009 and will be producing at full capacity im casino spielen by the end of the year. A spokesperson said that the production facility was expanded in response to an increased demand for emulsions and the expansion of Afriplex’s client base in Africa and South America.

AFRIPLEX LAUNCHES NEW WEIGHT MANAGEMENT INGREDIENT

Paarl”s Afriplex has announced the launch of a new weight management ingredient, a powder extract derived from Irvingia gabonensis, a fruit tree native to west Africa.

The flesh of Irvingia gabonensis fruit, or bush mango, has been consumed for centuries in the likes of Cameroon and Nigerians, ?????? as have its dika seeds that, dried or fresh, are commonly used in local cooking as flavourants and texturants. Irvingia is anecdotally well-known for its weight-loss properties. The plant has a satiety effect, a quality that attracted the interest of Afriplex. Unlike hoodia gordonii that acts to suppress appetite, it rather promotes satiety by delaying the exit of food from the stomach via the presence of soluble fibre in its seeds.

‘BUSH MANGO’ ENTERS WEIGHT MANAGEMENT MARKET

South African supplier, Afriplex, has debuted a weight management extract derived from a fruit tree native to West Africa it says has attracted the interest of at least two major US food producers.

The flesh of Irvingia gabonensis, or bush mango, has been consumed for centuries by west African natives such as Cameroonians and Nigerians, along with fresh or dried seeds that are commonly used in local cooking as flavourants and texturants.

It is the soluble fibre content of these seeds that is thought to promote satiety and which attracted the interest of Afriplex, which produced an extract that has shown similar effects in at least one peer-reviewed clinical trial.

Rosehip’s red colored berries that are rich in vitamin C offers a number of health benefits. GREEN ROOIBOS TEA GAINS MARKET POPULARITY

Plant extract and natural additive company Afriplex MD Danie Nel tells Engineering News that a ‘green’ type of rooibos tea is attracting the attention of the health-conscious consumer internationally. This new product from Afriplex will open new doors in the global health market.

He says that Afriplex decided to start producing green rooibos tea in 2003. In an effort to market healthy products, green rooibos tea, which is exclusive to South Africa, offers consumers of rooibos tea an improved product, with a higher source of nutrients, explains Nel. Green rooibos tea also contains less tannin, a common ingredient in tea, which is suspected of slowing metabolism and inhibiting the body’s ability to absorb protein and minerals such as iron.

Nel says that, although the company only began its green rooibos tea project two years ago, the product has gained popularity, particularly in US, European, Asian and Australian markets during that time.
